‘Love and Deceit’ movie premiere set July 16

September Tenth Films, a local film production company, will premiere its new full-length movie, "Love and Deceit," at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, July 16, at the Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover. Audiences find that things are not always what they seem in "Love and Deceit."

Everything Beverly Harrison (Rosalind Russell) prayed for was coming true – at least that's what she thought. She has the perfect marriage; her husband Kenneth (Will Wilmore III) is a high-powered advertising manager; he just got a great promotion; and they bought their dream home. But, everything falls apart when Beverly discovers a terrible secret that Kenneth has been hiding from her. While devastated and awaiting her divorce, Beverly meets Alex (Rodney Davis), a charming stranger, and they hit it off. Fearing that she will discover something bad about Alex, Beverly shelters her heart, which threatens their budding relationship.

According to Allen Joseph Johnson, writer and director, "We wanted the film to give our audience a feel for Dover's quaint, small-town environment, and were able to do so because of the generous outpouring of community support." All scenes were filmed in local homes and establishments including well-known restaurants, nightclubs, cafes, and department stores, and at Rehoboth Beach. All these venues were provided without cost.

While the veteran cast comes from throughout the region, the film presents several local merchants as extras to enhance its authenticity.

The Rev. Dr. Warren A. Rhodes, co-director, is no stranger to the theater scene. Rhodes is the award-winning writer, director and producer of the movie "God's Amazing Grace... is Just a Prayer Away," which was also filmed in Dover.
