William Knapp, retired systems analyst

William F. Knapp, 78, of Milton, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

William entered this world in a set of triplets born to George E. and Lelia M. (Fowler) Knapp. He was a retired senior systems analyst for the U.S. Government Drug Enforcement Administration. After retiring, he and his wife Joan moved to Milton where he was very active in the Milton Lions Club. He enjoyed collecting sports cards and stamps.

William served along with his brother Lester in the U.S. Navy aboard an LST. He was honorably discharged in 1958 after three years' service.

In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by a son, Douglas Knapp; his identical twin brother, Lester Knapp; and their sister, Lelia Magill.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan (Howell) Knapp; a daughter, Denise Knapp; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, at noon, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, with visitation after 11 a.m.
