Raymond T. Whitehair, retired inspector

Raymond T. Whitehair, 68, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, June 3, 2011. He was the son of the late Raymond F. and Reba (Campbell) Whitehair.

A resident of Rehoboth Beach for the past 10 years, he was formerly from Olney, Md. He attended the University of Maryland and was formerly a member of the United Association of Plumbers/Pipefitters in Landover, Md. Raymond worked for Delaware Health and Social Services as a plumbing inspector in Georgetown and Home Depot Inc. in Lewes as a master plumber sales associate. Formerly he owned TMI, a construction company, and Rehoboth Race-In Deli and Internet Cafe in Rehoboth Beach.  He also worked for Blake Construction Co. in Washington, D.C. as a senior estimator. He enjoyed the beach, chatting with friends and playing with his dog Woody. He was co-chairman and a founding member of GBAR, the Gay Business Association of Rehoboth. Ray will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters Kimberly Whitehair of Gaithersburg, Md., Patricia Loch and her husband Joseph of Maumee, Ohio, and Tracy Whitehair of Gaithersburg; a son Kyle Whitehair of Frederick, Md.; and four grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his partner and companion of 15 years, Terry Sprung of Rehoboth Beach.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
