Priscilla D. Powell, DuPont retiree

August 26, 2011

Priscilla Dolbow Powell, 76, of Lewes, loving wife, mother and grandmother, left this earth and went home to the Lord Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Christiana Hospital in Wilmington.  She was surrounded by her loving family.  She will be greatly missed by her family and all the people whose lives she touched with her calm and caring ways.

Priscilla was born Sept. 20, 1934, in Carney's Point, N.J.  She graduated from Penns Grove High School in 1951 with high honors and attended Goldy Beacom.  She was hired by the DuPont Company as a secretary.

Priscilla had a beautiful singing voice which she shared with the DuPont Chorus.  She met her adoring husband Richard in the chorus and they married in 1958.  They raised two wonderful children and she loved to travel all over the world on cruises (14 in all).  Priscilla and Richard sang with their church choir their entire life together.  She was also an avid sports fan and always cheered for her Philadelphia Phillies.  But more than anything, Priscilla loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna (Combs) Dolbow; her brother George Dolbow Jr., and her sister Louisa Hobbs Nipe.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Richard Powell; her daughter Georgiann Short; her son Gregory Powell; her son-in-law Joseph Short; and her three loving grandchildren: Jocelyn Short, Jordan Short and Tyler Powell.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. Fourth Street, Lewes.  Interment will follow at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes.  A reception will follow in the church hall.  Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 129 W. Fourth Street, Lewes, DE 19958.
