Grace Dukes Wolfe, 92, of Millville, formerly of Newark, went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by her loving family Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at her home.
She was born in Millville July 15, 1926, daughter of the late Harry Dukes Sr. and Mattie (Townsend) Dukes. Grace received her master’s degree from the University of Delaware.
Grace was an elementary school teacher in the Christina School District before retiring in 1986 after 25 years of service. She then moved back to her family home in Millville.

She was also a member of the Girls in the Garden, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Ocean View Historical Society. She was affectionately known as “Amazing Grace” and the “Queen of Millville,” serving the needs of many elderly community members. Grace enjoyed swimming, reading, crossword puzzles, card games and playing the piano.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Dukes Jr., and his wife Mabel.
She is survived by her four children, Timothy Wolfe and his wife Mary of Albany, N.Y., Christopher Wolfe and his wife Megan of Lincoln University, Pa., Kenneth Wolfe and his wife Marie of Millville, and Shelley Vaughn and her husband Mark of Newark; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A celebration of her life will be held at noon, Saturday, Dec. 15, at Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church, 81 Central Ave., Ocean View, where friends may gather after 11 a.m. Interment will be held privately at St. George’s Cemetery in Clarksville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Grace’s name to Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 81 Central Ave., Ocean View, DE 19970, or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
