VIA donates funds to Love Creek Elementary library

April 23, 2019

The Village Improvement Association of Rehoboth Beach recently donated $500 to Love Creek Elementary School to support its school library.

The VIA donated the funds in honor of Read Across America Day, one of the largest-participation reading days in the nation. March 2, 2019 would have been the 115th birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, American children’s author, political cartoonist, poet, animator, screenwriter, filmmaker and artist, best known as Dr. Seuss. By 2015, Dr. Seuss’ books had been translated into 17 languages and had sold 650 million copies in 95 countries.

For more than 10 years, VIA members have participated in this event and have donated funds, books and reading time to encourage love of books and spread the joy of reading among local children. The VIA is a women’s civic and charitable organization dedicated to community improvement through volunteer service.
