The public is invited to join Techno Goober from 8 a.m to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 1, in Milton Memorial Park, 113 Union St., Milton, for a day of free fishing and fun during the annual Andy & Opie Kids Fishing Tournament. Free registration begins at 8 a.m.; fishing is from 9 a.m. till noon. All winners will be announced by 1 p.m. All children must be accompanied by an adult and have a waiver signed at registration in order to participate.
Those who can are encouraged to bring their own fishing rods and tackle to the event; for those who don’t have any, it can be provided. Free bait will be provided, and free hot dogs will be available at 11 a.m. courtesy of Irish Eyes. Cash will only be needed by those interested in the local gift card drawings, the 50/50 raffle and treats from The Frozen Farmer Ice Cream Truck.
The age groups are 7 & under, 8-12 and 13-17, with boys’ and girls’ divisions. A fishing rod or tackle box will be provided at the end of the tournament to the first 300 registered children. Trophies for first, second and third place will be given to the winners of each age group in both boys’ and girls’ divisions for the longest fish caught between 9 a.m. and noon. Trophies will also be presented for the overall tournament champion, as well as a Goobers’ Choice Award. The overall tournament winner will receive a custom Andy & Opie fishing rod crafted by local PC Rods, a $300 value.
