Milton Farmers Market updates dog-friendly policy
The Milton Farmers Market updated its dog-friendly policy to accommodate market patrons with dogs, while ensuring consideration of other shoppers and minimizing risks to food safety for vendors.
Dogs coming to the Milton Farmers Market with their owners should observe the following rules: Keep your owner on a four-foot, non-expandable leash. (She'll think you're the one on a leash, but you know better.) Make sure your owner is under control and by your side at all times. You know how he gets when he sees his favorite tomatoes, squash and peaches. Keep your own inquisitive nose and paws away from produce, fruit and other food products offered by vendors. While you, a good boy, are welcome, ensure your owner doesn't bring dogs that are not as sociable as you are with people or other dogs. Be considerate of vendors, their products and other patrons. Of course, have your owner clean up after you.
"Dogs have always been welcome at the Milton Farmers Market, and this policy makes sure they're still welcome," said Patricia Nicholson, market board member. "If dogs can get their owners up to speed on these sensible rules, everyone at the market, humans and canines, will get the most out of their Friday afternoons."
The Milton Farmers Market is held from 3 to 6 p.m., Fridays, on the grounds of Dogfish Head Brewery at 6 Village Center Blvd., Milton.
