‘Beach Blanket Bingo’ to be screened in canalfront park Aug. 8
Friends of the Lewes Canalfront Park, with the support of Citizens Bank, will present a summer classic, “Beach Blanket Bingo,” at dusk, Thursday, Aug. 8, in Lewes Canalfront Park. The movie is free and the community is invited to attend.
“Beach Blanket Bingo,” released in 1965, is the fifth and best-known in the highly successful beach party film series. It stars Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello, Linda Evans, Paul Lynde and Don Rickles.
Frankie and the gang are hitting the beach for some good old-fashioned shenanigans. To get the party underway, the manager of pop singer Sugar Kane decides a skydiving publicity stunt will really do the trick. As Frankie and the others are pulled into the plan, things get out of control.
Attendees may bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic suppers for this free family entertainment on the banks of the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal.
Thursday evenings through the end of August are scheduled with movies, concerts and a play in Lewes Canalfront Park. For more information, go to www.lewescanalfrontpark.org or call the information/weather hotline at 302-645-2795.
