Plein Air Painting with Brian Murphy set at RAL Aug 5-6
Come learn about being loose and free in plein air painting while experiencing the beautiful historic grounds of the Rehoboth Art League and the surrounding beach communities in the two-day class “Plein Air Painting with Brian Murphy” scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 5-6 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Intermediate and advanced painters will learn to create loose yet descriptive paintings with strong brush strokes, discover the benefits of using a limited palette and learn some helpful hints about good design elements. The cost of the class is $135 per person for members and $170 per person for nonmembers.
As a plein air painter, Murphy has committed himself to capturing on canvas the scenic environment throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. The same majestic landscapes and seascapes that inspired early California plein air painters such as: Edgar Payne, Hanson Puthuff and William Wendt provide audience to the artist’s unrestrained style. Further afield, extensive travels to exotic locales including: China, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Hawaii and Alaska have resulted in impressive collections of oil paintings, while fostering the artist’s creativity and global awareness.
To register for classes, go to www.rehobothartleague.org or call the art league at 302-227-8408 Ext. 112. All classes are held at the Rehoboth Art League, located at 12 Dodds Lane in Henlopen Acres.
