Rehoboth Fire Department raises $2,200 for new station

November 3, 2011

The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company and the Greene Turtle teamed up for a fundraiser to help raise money for construction of the department's new Station 2 on Route 1.

The Oct. 18 fundraiser featured a silent auction, raffle and fire company merchandise. The Greene Turtle donated 10 percent of its Oct. 18 sales to the cause. Greene Turtle co-owner Bill Frankis said the restaurant raised $800, while the silent auction raised $1,400 for a total of $2,200.

The event also allowed youngsters, like 2-year-old Baltimore resident David Levinoff with his father Aaron, to climb aboard one of the department's fire trucks.
