Kathleen ‘Katie’ McIntyre, full of energy

Kathleen “Katie” McIntyre, 74, of Dagsboro, formerly of National Park, N.J., passed away Saturday Nov. 16, 2019, at her home.

Katie was born in Philadelphia, Pa., Sept. 11, 1945, daughter of the late Francis Carr and the late Catherine (Gillen) Carr.  She graduated from Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Fairview, N.J.

For all those who knew Katie, she was a fun-loving woman who was always full of energy, and loved to dance and golf. She was a member of the Cripple Creek Women’s Golf Association in Dagsboro, and enjoyed walking two miles with her loving husband and best friend “Mickey” throughout their development, where lasting friendships have been made.  Katie will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mom and mom mom.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Carr Jr. and his wife, Mary Ellen.  Katie is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Leo “Mickey” McIntyre; two children, Michele Smith and her partner Keith Hyndman of West Deptford, N.J., and Michael McIntyre and his wife Rita of Wenonah, N.J.; four grandchildren, Samantha Smith of Brooklawn, N.J., McKenzie, Keegan and Logan McIntyre, all of Wenonah; a sister, Trudi Schaeffer and her husband Edward of Webster, Fla.; her best friends, Patsy McCrea, Ellie Hughes and Dottie Worthington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  

A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends can visit after 10 a.m.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, at McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, N.J.  Relatives and friends may visit from 9 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bellmawr, N.J.
