Salvation Army seeks online donations for food pantry

Not currently able to accept material goods
April 14, 2020

The Salvation Army of Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware has launched an online virtual food pantry donation site to benefit neighbors who might need a little extra help during this crisis. Without leaving home, people can donate online at www.pendel.salvationarmy.org.

Every Corps Community Center in the region is doing what they always do: distributing food to those who need it. With the ongoing crisis, however, the needs are growing.

While all are impacted by the coronavirus outbreak, the one in six Americans who are living in poverty will likely feel the effects and more quickly and significantly. Needs are increasing now that so many people have been furloughed or have lost jobs due to COVID-19. Closed schools and community centers create gaps in meals for children. Working families who live paycheck to paycheck are experiencing fewer hours on the job, with little or no income to support themselves or their loved ones.

Due to safety concerns, The Salvation Army is not currently able to accept material goods from the public. This virtual giving model will allow generous individuals to contribute to the initiative in a safe and convenient manner.

To donate by check, mail to The Salvation Army - Delaware, 400 N. Orange St., Wilmington, DE 19801.

Since this crisis began, The Salvation Army of Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware has provided more than 618,000 meals to individuals and families in need.
