Coronavirus 6-Pack Series reaches halfway point

April 17, 2020

The Coronavirus 6-Pack Racing Series is giving runners something to do, something to look forward to, allowing them to set a goal, and run and walk to achieve it. Most importantly, the series is giving the participants a chance to give back and raise much-needed money for charities while doing something they love to do.

The series began April 1 and in two weeks has raised $7,727 for 10 nonprofit charities. The series is hosted by Seashore Striders and currently has 207 participants from 20 different states. I have been contacted by a few runners in other countries wanting to join, but as of Thursday’s deadline, all participants were from within the United States. There have been more than 4,200 page views on the event website at seashorestriders.com, and more are registering each day. The top charity is Beebe Healthcare’s COVID-19 Relief Fund, where $2,400 has been donated as of this past Thursday. Participants have until midnight, Friday, April 24, to get registered for the series.

Distances that must be completed during the month of April include: 1 mile, 3.1 miles, 5 miles, 6.2 miles, 10 miles and 13.1 miles. The order that runners do the races is totally up to them, as some are going in order and some are mixing it up.
