William Leo Emery, had passion for golf
William "Bill" Leo Emery, 84, of Milton passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020, at The Moorings at Lewes. He was born June 2, 1936, in Martinsburg, W.Va., son of the late Frank and Mary (McCarty) Emery.
Upon graduating from Martinsburg High School, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until his honorable discharge. He later settled down in Bethesda, Md., where he met and married Nancy Lynn Webster Oct. 29, 1966. Together they raised two beautiful children, Jennifer and Darrell. Bill worked in sales for Woodward & Lothrop Department Store in Bethesda, retiring after 35 dedicated years. Following his retirement to the beach, he worked for 17 years at Golf Park of Rehoboth and for 14 years at the Coastal Highway and Shuttle Road Exxon.
Bill had a lifelong passion for the game of golf, whether he was playing the game, watching it on television, or working on a golf course. Even when he wasn't playing golf, what made Bill happy was staying active and spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his kind and loving spirit, never meeting a person he didn't love, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Emery; and his brother, George Emery. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Nancy Emery; his daughter Jennifer Kropp and her husband Bryan; his grandson, Nathan Kropp; and his sisters, Nancy Burke and Sue Ellen Frick.
