Coastal Club Feed the Kids Challenge seeks donations until Dec. 31

December 19, 2020

Coastal Club Cares, a group of Coastal Club community residents near Lewes, has launched a 2020 Feed the Kids Challenge to benefit the Harry K Foundation.

The challenge goal is to generate $20,000 by Thursday, Dec. 31, to help defeat childhood hunger.

The Harry K Foundation, established by Rehoboth Beach resident and business owner Harry Keswani, is a local nonprofit organization known for its commitment to fighting food insecurity. In Delaware, 12.9 percent of all residents are food insecure.

Coastal Club Cares launched its challenge Dec. 5 as a way to fight childhood hunger in the area, build community pride and be productive during COVID-19 restrictions.

Using the community and Coastal Club Cares Facebook pages along with direct communication to residents, the message is getting out quickly. Any business or individual can donate to the challenge to help meet the $20,000 goal.

In conjunction with the 2020 Feed the Kids Challenge, the group also launched a special project for the community children – Kids for Kids. Children will create and decorate a total of 100 holiday cards with supplies donated to the project. The cards will be delivered to residents at Cadia Renaissance Rehabilitation & Nursing Home in Millsboro, where residents are not allowed to have visitors. For each card the children create, $5 will be donated to the 2020 Feed the Kids Challenge by anonymous donors.
