After being canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Milton’s Concerts in the Park returned with a bang June 2, with a packed lawn at Milton Memorial Park to watch classic rock act 33 1/3.
Concerts are set to take place every Wednesday at 7 p.m., free of charge with concertgoers only needing to bring their own lawn chairs. The first concert of every month is Food Pantry Night, with attendees encouraged to bring canned goods to donate to Milton Community Food Pantry.
The only hiccup during the concert was that the kids train was derailed and unable to run for the night because of problems with the tracks. The train had not run since 2019, and the recent spells of hot and cold weather caused the steel tracks to expand and contract unpredictably. Representatives from Milton Lions Club, which runs the train, said they hope the train tracks will be repaired before the next concert.
Mayor Ted Kanakos said, “The importance of this past Wednesday's concert in Milton's Memorial Park is that it offered the opportunity to bring the community back together after more than a year of social distancing. The concert itself was fantastic! The audience, the music and the weather all came together in the perfect setting. It truly was an exceptional evening.”
