Juanita (Hardy) Ames, retired chef

Juanita (Hardy) Ames, 98, of Lewes passed away peacefully Monday, July 26, 2021, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.  She was born March 14, 1923, in Wilson, N.C.

Mrs. Ames enjoyed her career as a chef at The Avenue Restaurant.  Her hobbies and interests were many and varied, including playing computer games and visiting casinos.  Above all, Mrs. Ames cherished time spent with those she held most dear.  She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Ames was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George H. Ames; her son, William Ames; and her daughters:  Daisey E. Williamson and Peggy Inez Ward.  She is survived by her children:  Carolyn Haggins (Brock), Marcus Hall (Vickie), George H. Ames Jr. (Sandy), Robert J. Ames (Sonja), Brenda K. Maull (Julius), Donald Hall, John Hall (Brenda), Mary Ward, Leroy Ward, and Leon Ward; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Yates Funeral Home, a Parsell Family Funeral Home, Seaford.
