James C. Stewart Jr., proud veteran

James C. Stewart Jr., 84 of Lewes, formerly of Columbia, Md., passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021. He was born Oct. 30, 1936, in Drexel Hill, Pa., son of the late James C. and Frances (Collins) Stewart.

Mr. Stewart attended Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa., and was a proud veteran, having honorably served in the U.S. Army. He worked for many years as a general manager for Drape Rite Custom Draperies Inc. in Hyattsville, Md. He was also a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes, where he previously managed the Parish Life Hall. Above all, he enjoyed time spent with those he held most dear. Mr. Stewart was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Eugenia Stewart of Lewes; his daughter, Barbara Pipkin (Stacy) of Pasadena, Md.; his son, James Stewart lll (Janet)  of Pasadena; his stepdaughter, Jeannie Dougherty of Lindenwold, N.J.; his stepson, Richard Mantici of Columbia; his seven grandchildren; and his nine great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Dr., Lewes, where friends may visit starting at 10 a.m.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations in Mr. Stewart's memory to St. Jude Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Dr., Lewes, DE 19958, or Alzheimer's Association www.act.alz.org/donate.
