November 4, 2021

Debra Ann Durkee, 68, of Seaford passed away surrounded by her family Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021. She was born in Lewes Sept. 24, 1953, daughter of the late Ralph and Daisy Lewis.

She is survived by her husband of 17 years, William Durkee; her two sons and their spouses, Garry Belote and Kelly Belote, and Ben Belote and Brittany Belote; her six grandchildren, Kyle Avery, Alyssa Belote, Morgan Belote, Kali Banks, Lexus Banks and Kyle Banks; and her brother, Dennis Workman.

She graduated from Indian River High School and studied computer programming at Delaware Technical Community College. She was a very bright young woman determined to provide the best life for her two sons. She used her knowledge working for Covey, Mazo-Lerch and Holt. More recently, she had settled down and as her involvement in the church increased, she began working as the children’s director of Laurel Wesleyan Church.

Anyone who knew Debbi knew how much she loved her family; they were the very core of her existence. She was always known to have a smile on her face, and has always been described as a very loving, warm and compassionate person. Some of her favorite things to do were spending time with family and friends, as well as her feline companion, Stripey. She loved to garden and always had the most beautiful yard in her community. The footprints she left on this earth with be everlasting.

There will be a Celebration of Life held Saturday, Nov. 6, at noon, at Laurel Wesleyan Church.
