Oldfather Group names new vice president

January 28, 2022

The Oldfather Group of Compass RE, with local offices in Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Fenwick Island, has announced the addition of Zachary Jahnigen as the firm’s new vice president of business development.

A native of Bethany Beach and longtime executive with Sussex County-based Insight Homes, Jahnigen joined the company in December and will focus primarily on training new agents to the continuously growing Oldfather Group family.

“I’m excited to join the Oldfather Group and to be able to do what I like to do, and that’s taking someone with little or no experience and later seeing them enjoy success in the industry,” said Jahnigen, who lives in Frankford with his wife and stepdaughter. “Having the ability to do that while also being a part of the culture and environment that I was looking for are the reasons that I accepted this new challenge.”

Jahnigen’s addition is the latest in the Oldfather Group’s efforts to build the largest and strongest real estate team in the region. Servicing all of Delaware, the Eastern Shore of Maryland, the state capital region of Annapolis, Md., and southeastern Pennsylvania, the firm aims to more than double its team of real estate agents in 2022.

One of Jahnigen’s first tasks is to design a 90-day onboarding program for new agents which would include classroom time, one-on-one training, and partnership between new agents and seasoned Realtors, the latter of which will allow for expert coaching in the field.

A new class will be scheduled every 60 days, while agents in the previous batch are still actively training with Realtors and team leaders in the states where the Oldfather Group does business.

“We have so much potential and so many leads coming in. So we need to get our new agents trained and shown the proper way to do what they need to do. We can then create a groundswell moving forward and ensure that everyone’s time is being used productively and efficiently,” said Jahnigen.

As a native of southern Delaware, Jahnigen is quick to point out Brimming Horn Meadery, Grotto Pizza and the Bethany Beach boardwalk as some of his favorite local sites. As for benefits of living and working in the area, that would be the low property taxes and the region’s 26 miles of pristine Atlantic coastline.

Jahnigen will work primarily out of the company’s Lewes office, though he will spend a lot of time on the road.

“Zack brings a wealth of experience and is committed to leadership, growth and serving our agents with a personal touch,” said Dustin Oldfather, chief executive of the Oldfather Group. “We’re grateful to have his energy, enthusiasm and dynamic personality become a part of our team as we continue our rapid growth from the Atlantic to the Chesapeake.”
