More than 100 volunteers helped Mountaire Farms staff pack more than 3,000 food boxes April 13, during the company’s annual Easter for Thousands, as part of a year-round campaign to help families in need. Food drives also take place at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the company has also donated chicken to many community food drives.
More than 50 local churches, community groups and nonprofit organizations picked up food boxes at Mountaire’s Selbyville warehouse for distribution. The food boxes – containing a Mountaire roaster chicken, canned corn and peas, mashed potatoes, gravy and brownies – will feed 12,000 people.
Company-wide, employees and volunteers will pack some 10,000 boxes during the food drive with enough food to feed 40,000 people.
