Westminster Presbyterian hosts Blessing of the Animals
Inaugural event brings out furry friends who are equally part of the family

Westminster Presbyterain Church in Rehoboth Beach hosted its inaugural Blessing of the Animals May 1.
Turnout was sporadic, but pet owners, church members and animals all appreciated the good vibes. After being blessed, the furry friends received treats and the owners received a certificate of the blessing.
Pastor Barbara Macfie was happy to conduct the blessings.
“You never know how much you’re going to get the first year, but we’ll build on it,” said Macfie.

Alison Gatewood, far left, didn’t know about the blessing, but she was out for a walk with four dogs – Leia, Teddy, Maverick, Ranger – so she decided to take advantage of the situation.
After being blessed, the pets were given a little package of treats.
