St. George's Chapel will hold a Memorial Day Service at 10 a.m., Monday, May 30, at 20271 Beaver Dam Road (Route 23) near Harbeson.
The historic chapel was constructed in 1794. The service will include special prayers, readings and music appropriate for the occasion, with special emphasis on the country's veterans.
Guest speaker will be retired Col. H.W. "Buzz" Buse III, USMC, who served for 25 years on active duty as a Marine infantry officer. Among Buse's many assignments, he led Marine infantry units in the Vietnam War in 1965, 1966 and 1969. Following his retirement from active duty, Buse worked as director of officer services for the accounting firm then known as Touche Ross, the director of administration for two branch offices of the Baltimore-based law firm Venable, and as the director of officer placement services for the Military Officers Association of America.
For the past 12 years, Buse has been a member of the Episcopal Parish of All Saints' Church and St. George's Chapel, and he currently serves on the church vestry. This service is open to the public and all are welcome to attend. A freewill offering will be taken.
Ample off-street parking is available in the parking lot directly across the road from the chapel. For more information, email info@allsaintsandstgeorges.org or call 302-227-7202, or go to allsaintsandstgeorges.org.
