David Lee Carey, man of faith
David Lee Carey, 75, of Lincoln, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, in Rehoboth Beach, at his daughter’s home. He was born April 18, 1947, in Milford, son of the late Archibald and Virgie Carey.
David was a graduate of Milford High School Class of 1967. He enlisted in the U.S. Airforce immediately following graduation and served honorably as an engine technician in Vietnam, California, Minnesota, South Dakota, Arizona and Delaware. David had many interests and hobbies including classic cars, attending car shows and collecting model cars; his pride and joy was his 1965 Chevy truck. He also enjoyed collecting old car horn buttons, ashtrays and Zippo lighters. David was an avid reader and always enjoyed a good book. His favorite foods were tomatoes and peas and dumplings, and he could not do without his coffee. A sports fan at heart, David especially liked NHL hockey and MLB baseball. He loved music, especially jazz and Gospel, being a man of faith who loved and followed God. More than anything, he treasured time spent with those he loved. David was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Loved by many, he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Carey was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Janet (Mitchell) Carey. He is survived by his children: Diane (Carey) Keyser and D. Ray Carey; his grandchildren: Allie Carey, Hannah Keyser and Grace Keyser; and his great-grandson, Mack Lee Ortiz.
A funeral service will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, at Christian Tabernacle, 18940 Johnson Road, Lincoln.
