November 1, 2022

Robert J. Gentile passed away suddenly Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022.

He was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Camden, N.J., to Edward and Catherine Gentile (Sharpham). Bob served as a corporal in the U.S. Army, and met and married Edna E. Belsky and they settled in Sewell, N.J.

Bob drove a concrete truck for Penn Jersey in New Jersey for 32 years.  He was most happy behind the wheel.  He loved going “dump pick’n” with his sons looking for old bottles.  When he retired to Warwick Park in Millsboro, he enjoyed his grass-cutting duties at the waterfront.  He was nicknamed Mayor of Warwick Park due to his keeping up with the comings and goings in the park.  Bob enjoyed his many travels with his wife, and they especially loved Chincoteague, Va., which they visited often.

He loved driving his red Corvette as an active member of Beachcomber Corvette Club and later on, his red Mustang.  Bob worked for Delaware River and Bay Authority as a toll collector and later as a toll supervisor for 25 years.  He enjoyed attending alumni activities for Paulsboro High School and was a member of Pegasus Club. He was a member of St. Michael/Mary Mother of Peace Parish and volunteered at Mary’s House Pantry for many years.

Predeceased by his parents and his brothers, John and Eddie. Robert is survived by his wife, Edna; their two sons, Michael R. Gentile (Linda) of Thorofare, N.J., and Steven R. Gentile of Elmer, N.J.; six grandchildren, Teresa Gentile of San Antonio, Texas, Linda Ridgeway (Brian) of Elsinboro, N.J., Anthony Gentile of Deerfield, N.J., Kale English (Lisa) of Clayton, James MacMichael of Thorofare, and  Susan DeGeorge (Tom) of Pitman, N.J.; six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Sophia, Aubree, Thomas, Gavin and Addelynn Mae; a sister, Kathleen D. Gasiorowski of Cinnaminson, N.J.; and two sisters-in-law, Anna Gentile and Constance Gentile of Mullica Hill, N.J.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date.
