American Legion Post 17 held its annual Veterans Day honors Nov. 11 in Lewes. Guest speaker for the event was retired U.S Navy Lt. Frank “Nick” Carter who was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in 1970. His grandfather and father were Naval Academy grads and his son is currently a junior at the Naval Academy.
Other speakers for the event were Post Commander Steve Barrow, Auxiliary President Kellie Bergen and Squadron Commander Douglas Spelman. Auxiliary Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Chair Murt Foos led a salute to veterans from each branch of service.
Barrow and Adjutant Steven Missimer read the names of veterans who will receive awards for continuous membership in the American Legion family. A lunch buffet was served for the veterans after the ceremony.
