Sussex Strong seeks help wrapping gifts for needy children Dec. 6

November 30, 2022

Sussex Strong, the Sussex County Association of Realtors Community Service Foundation, is seeking volunteers to help wrap gifts for needy families starting at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach.

Having raised $75,000 at their annual Sussex Strong Gala with the primary goal of helping kids in Sussex County, Sussex Strong members hit the stores this week, along with community volunteers, to shop for all their needs. This year, the group is helping 99 families with a total of 248 children.

Now that all the coats, clothing and a toy have been chosen for each needy child, they are asking for help wrapping all of these gifts. Wrapping paper will be supplied, so volunteers can just bring their own scissors and tape.

To date, Sussex Strong has raised more than $1,537,380 and helped over 9,712 children in Sussex County.

Members send heartfelt thanks to the presenting sponsors of the gala where funds were raised to help these children: Sussex County Association of Realtors and Jack Lingo; Band Sponsor - Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty; and Platinum sponsors Bonnie Benson, Scott & Shuman, and Vacasa.

Extra-special thanks go to Vacasa for providing a large truck and a very strong volunteer named Eric, who spent shopping day loading the truck, then delivered everything and helped unload it at the Rusty Rudder.
