The Georgetown Historical Society, 510 Bedford St., will host a holiday opening of its Jimmy Boyer Train Show and Western Auto Museum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays, Dec. 3, 10 and 17. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.
The train display is a donation from longtime Georgetown train enthusiast Jimmy Boyer. It not only includes an impressive layout, but also 277 train engines and more than 1,700 rail cars lining the walls of the museum, some still in their original boxes.
The Western Auto Museum houses the extensive collection of Maurice Sanger of Rehoboth Beach. Sanger, who owned Western Auto stores in Maryland, has spent 50 years collecting thousands of items of store memorabilia, including toys, automotive supplies, housewares, tools and Western Auto signature products.
