Gary Hearne of Lewes has enjoyed watching Canada geese raising their young in his backyard pond this summer. He said each pair has averaged about five goslings, and he’s observed how they grow and communicate with each other. One gosling has a deformed or broken wing, and the whole flock protects it from danger. He said a Tri-State Bird Rescue representative visited the pond and advised him to continue observing the gosling for the time being.
