Juanita McDaniel, dedicated community volunteer

November 7, 2023

Juanita “Faye” (Ison) McDaniel, 80, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at her home. She was born July 19, 1943, in the small town of Seko, Ky., daughter of the late Emmitt and Neville Ison.

Faye grew up in Wharton, W.Va., but she made Lewes her home. She was very active in the community and donated time and resources to many worthy charities, including Lightship Overfalls, Lewes Public Library, Lewes Chamber of Commerce, Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse, beach cleanup projects, and many others. A presence at Pilottown Marina, Faye was always a part of the pig roast and the New Year’s brunch. Above all, her family was her priority. She loved them dearly and treasured memories made with them. Faye was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was loved by all who knew her and will be forever missed.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Hugh Foster McDaniel. She is survived by her daughter, Robin Ward (Tracy) of Lewes; her grandchildren, Danielle Powell, Holly Ward and Nicholas Ward; her great-grandchildren, Haylee, Adylynn, Ayden and Reagan; her brother, Arnold Ison of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
