National Signing Day, held Nov. 8 for the Class of 2024, showcased 19 athletes at Cape Henlopen High School. It was a festive party focused on extended families and coaches with lots of teammates joining in for a series of freestyle photos to close out the celebration in time for afternoon practices.

The 19 signees included seven boys and 12 girls.

Boys signing included three lacrosse players, Jack Schell (Syracuse), Anderson Smith (St. Leo’s) and Mike Guenther (St. Leo’s); two baseball players, Brian Fleming (VCU) and Gage Joseph (University of Delaware); track and cross country runner Joey DeGregory (Salisbury University); and football player Maurki James (Old Dominion University).

The girls’ signees included eight lacrosse players, Lulu Rishko (Virginia Tech), Landon Diehl (University of Mary Washington), Hannah Abel (Catawba College), Montana Jones (West Chester University), Carrie Clausius (University of Tampa), Anna Sullivan (Stetson University), Anna Lopez (College of William & Mary), Lexi Nowakowski (Vanderbilt University). The other four will play field hockey; they are Addy Basile (Ohio University), Devon DeGregory (Salisbury University), Grace Wiggins (University of Richmond) and Hannah Maney (University of Iowa).

Additional signings will trickle in over the next few months, leading to another National Signing Day in January.
