Steven A. Pepper, veteran, former Georgetown mayor

Steven A. Pepper, 83, of Georgetown, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2023.  

Steve graduated from Georgetown High School in 1958 and attended Wesley College until enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in late 1960. He served his entire enlistment stationed at Zweibrucken Air Base, Germany, with the U.S. Air Force Security Service.  After his military obligation, Steve spent over 50 years in the financial services sector and lived in Germany for a total of 27 years. He returned to Delaware in 1991 and served a term as mayor of Georgetown from 1996-98.  

He is survived by his four sons, Mike, Carey, Mark and Terry; grandchildren, Bryan, Erik, Christopher, Naima, Stella and Colin; and great-grandchildren, Brant, Autumn and Caden. He was a dear brother to Janice (Owens), Martha (Callaway) and Donna (Rogers) and brother-in-law to her husband Phillip.  

Steve was predeceased by his mother, Ellen Virginia Pepper; and father, Alfred Leroy Pepper. He is also survived by extended family and friends in Arizona, Delaware, Maryland, and Nevada, as well as in Germany.  

Interment will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, with a reception to follow from 1 to 3 p.m., at the home of Janice Owens, 20280 Ennis Road, Georgetown.
