UUSD to screen ‘Three Degrees of Connection’ Jan. 26

Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware will host a free soup and bread dinner followed by a movie screening, "Three Degrees of Connection," Friday, Jan. 26, at 30486 Lewes Georgetown Highway, Lewes.

Participants may come for a free meal at 5:30 p.m. and view the movie, or attend the movie only, which will be shown at 6:30 p.m. The movie examines the heritage of Lewes from the perspectives of people with different histories with the area, of different races and ages, and with varied research agendas. "Three Degrees of Connection" captures the sense of a community in transition from past to future through a multi-lensed present. The movie explores Lewes through its diverse and at times conflicting stories, history and heritage. For more information about the film, go to Documentary offers window into Lewes’ past.

Richard Moore, the local producer, includes a large cast of people who know the community well. A few of those people are former Mayor Ted Becker, current Mayor Andrew Williams, and Councilmen Tim Ritzert and Khalil Saliba. Also included are Lewes African American Heritage Commission members Trina Brown-Hicks,  Bill Collick, the Rev. George Edwards and the Rev. Deborah McCaffity; the Rev. Jeffrey Ross of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church; and historians Denise Clemons and Hazel Brittingham.
