Cape High business students hold fundraiser game show

DECA club’s Come on Down event proceeds earmarked for competition expenses

Students and families tried their luck at winning a variety of games at the Cape DECA club’s Come on Down fundraiser game show Feb. 23.

Nine months of hard work culminated in a successful event, said DECA President Andrew Racz.

“We had 52 people attend as competitors and even more as viewers,” Racz said. “We raised well over $1,000, which will be used for travel expenses to and from Anaheim, Calif., for the International Career Development Conference.”

Cape High students performed strongly in the state competition and planned the game show fundraiser to alleviate travel and registration costs so all eligible students can attend the international contest, set for April 27-30.

Attendees purchased viewer tickets or competitive tickets that included the chance of being called to the stage to play in the games. Raffle tickets and refreshments were available for purchase.

“I personally couldn’t have been prouder of the team, and I look forward to seeing how they improve it next year,” Racz said.
