Steven C. Balinski, friendly soul
Steven C. Balinski, 53, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024. He was born Sept. 1, 1970, to Joseph J. Balinski III and Jeanette Balinski in Wilmington.
Steven attended school in Lewes through middle school and then finished high school at the Benedictine School in Ridgley, Md. He then lived with his parents in Lewes until 1992 before moving to Wilmington’s Browntown, his father’s childhood neighborhood. Steven was outgoing, enjoyed meeting new people and seemingly always ran into a friend whenever he was out and about, regardless of where he was in the state. He was always a friendly soul ready to chat with literally anyone.
Steven was a huge NASCAR fan, and his bedroom is filled with Dale Jr. and Jeff Gordon memorabilia. In addition to following NASCAR, he was his mother’s go-to for anything internet or technical-related. Above all else, Steven loved winning … big time, and then buying crabs to share with the family.
As a kid, he would travel with his Uncle Bud in his tractor-trailer and loved traveling across the U.S. His desire for adventure ran deep, and he was always ready for a new adventure.
He is preceded in death by his father Joseph J. Balinski III and brother David A. Balinski. He’s survived by his mother, Jeanette; siblings, Joey, Donna and Michael; and nephews Dave Jr. and Joey Jr.
A memorial service will begin at 12 p.m., Friday, May 31, at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
