This is a letter to the voters of Rehoboth Beach.
The other day a friend reminded me of a letter to the editor I wrote a few years back; I tagged it, “The city of no!” I criticized the then administration for its generally negative attitude toward the three essential elements that make up this city: commercial, visitors and residents.
No continues today. No can be seen in issues such as basement restrictions in residences and foot-dragging on hotel development.
I raise the no concern because this year's election offers an array of as many as five commissioner candidates who might offer a more positive approach to governing. At this point, it is not clear what viewpoint these individuals have on no. And that’s why you, the voters, must find out.
Seek out the candidates. Attend their campaign events and voter forums. Ask them questions. Determine their position on issues. Look for the yes! Then vote for them!
