Champions Field Hockey Camp welcomes 44 players at Cape

July 20, 2024

Cape’s Champions Field Hockey Camp welcomed 44 players over four days July 15-18, with each day offering a slightly different clinical setting blended with full-field competition.

There were canopies covering the benches and plenty of water breaks.

“It’s important that the players get to run up and down and play,” said coach Debbie Windett.

Cape head coach Kate Austin keeps a watchful and discerning eye on player development.

“We graduated 13 seniors, and everyone knew last season was going to be a great one,” she said. “This year is a different profile, but lots of opportunities for younger players.”

Camp coaches/counselors included Tracey Griesbaum, Kate Austin, Debbie Windett, Reagan Ciabattoni, Noelle Sabbagh, Emma Duffield, Mackenzie Brown and Britney Stewart. Alia Marshall also dropped by the camp.

There was yoga directed by Hiba Stancofski, as well as a session with Allie Perugini from Embark Mental Performance.

Cape trainers Ashley Schuster and Hollyann Wettstein were on site for all sessions.

The Champions camp for elementary and middle school is set from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday, July 22-25.
