Greenwood woman charged, man still sought in copper thefts
A Greenwood woman faces several felony theft charges Aug. 20 and a man is still being sought in connection with copper wire theft from irrigation systems.
Detectives began investigating April 12 and again Aug. 15 after reports that someone trespassed on private properties in Bridgeville, Greenwood and Houston to cut and remove copper wire from pivot irrigation systems, police said. Police said irrigation systems were damaged, and detectives had identified Dorothy Wooleyhand, 40, and Michael Plummer, 39, as suspects.
Wooleyhand was arrested and taken to Troop 4 where she was charged with four counts felony theft over $1,500 where the victim is over 62; four counts theft over $1,500; eight counts criminal mischief over $5,000; four counts second-degree conspiracy; theft under $1,500; two counts criminal mischief under $1,000; and 10 counts third-degree criminal trespass.
Wooleyhand was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on a $22,000 unsecured bond.
