The Cape soccer defense allowed just one shot on goal as the Vikings recorded their third shutout of the season with a 7-0 thrashing of Laurel Sept. 23 at Legends Stadium. The Vikings move to 4-2-1, while the Bulldogs drop to 0-5-1.
Cape had six different scorers in the contest. John Flynn hit the twine twice, while Giovanni Barney, Brady Spiegel, Cardin Benjamin, Austin Tyndall and Evan Burris each put one past the keeper.
Benjamin was credited with three assists, while Lee Levis, Spiegel and Dilan Velasquez-Bravo helped on one.
Cape goalie Jake Hutchison was only called into service once to make a save.
Cape outshot the Bulldogs 21-1 and had a 9-1 edge in corners.
“We played well and finished in the attacking third,” said Cape head coach Patrick Kilby. “It was a great team effort. A lot of guys got a lot of minutes. I’m happy with the result as we go on the road to Rhode Island.”
The Vikings will travel to North Smithfield High School in Rhode Island Thursday, Sept. 26.
