Joseph Latta, beloved son, husband, father

October 14, 2024
Joseph Latta of Milton passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer. He was only 45.

Joe was born in Ohio and grew up in northern New Jersey, graduating from Morris Catholic High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Maryland.
Joe married the love of his life, Laura Wadler, May 23, 2009, in a picture-perfect wedding overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. Together they shared a passion for the outdoors, their love of Baltimore, and most of all, their three amazing children, Abe, Gus and Ike.

A talented and successful writer, Joe founded Freestyle Editorial Services. He was a frequent speaker, blogger, and mentor to aspiring proposal writers. He managed proposal teams at several national consulting firms and eventually joined an amazing team at IBM Consulting.

Joe was a musician, athlete, and an avid fan of Springsteen and Newcastle United. But most of all, Joe loved being a dad to his boys. Whether it was coaching them in soccer, enjoying days at the beach, or walking the nature trails at Cape Henlopen, Joe’s family was his world.

In addition to his wife and children, Joe leaves behind his parents, Ed and Della Latta; his brother, Tim and his wife Jocelyn; his brother-in-law, Michael Billok; loving in-laws; nieces, nephews; and a host of longtime friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his sister, Kimberlee Latta Billok.

Details on a memorial service and celebration of Joe's life are forthcoming.
