Dennis Myron Hudson, successful contractor
Dennis "Denny" Myron Hudson, 63, of Lewes, passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, friend, and family member in the community.
Denny was born in Lewes. He was the youngest of four sons born to Claude William Hudson Sr. (originally of Ocean View) and Adrienne "Didi" Margaret Stokes Hudson (originally of Paris, France). His parents operated the family-owned Stokes Hotel at the corner of Brooklyn Avenue and First Street in downtown Rehoboth Beach, where he grew up in idyllic "old" Rehoboth. He graduated from Cape Henlopen High School with the class of 1978. (Go Vikings!)
Denny worked in the construction trades for many years and was a successful contractor. Later, he devoted his life to caring for his special needs daughter, Samantha. He greatly enjoyed surf-fishing, duck hunting, surfing, horseshoes, and darts throughout his lifetime. All enjoyed his talent in the kitchen as he had a passion for the culinary arts. He was a man of patience and calm spirit, loved nature, and never strayed far from the ocean because his "gills would dry up," as he was known to say. He also had a soft spot for his beloved Bokeelia, Fla., where he spent winters as part of his upbringing.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Samantha Hudson; son, Daniel Hudson; brother, Claude William "Bill" Hudson Jr.; sister-in-law, Daisey Hudson; and parents Claude and Adrienne Hudson.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Hudson of Lewes; his children, his son, Dennis Hudson (Lola) of Virginia Beach, Va.; and daughter, Jennifer Hudson of Millsboro; grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and James of Millsboro; his brothers, Towar "Terry" Hudson (Karen) of Rehoboth Beach, and Adrian "Sprig" Hudson (Kathy) of Millsboro; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place in the spring of 2025.
