Joan Krupack Godwin, enjoyed reading, cooking
Joan Krupack Godwin passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024. She was born Feb. 4, 1939, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., daughter of the late Stanley and Josephine Krupack.
After graduating from high school, Joan moved to Delaware with her family and worked for Sussex Finances. On an evening out with friends, she met the love of her life, Walter "Turk" Godwin, an Air Force officer home on leave. They married in August 1957.
Joan loved being an Air Force wife. Their assignments allowed them to live in many wonderful places like Hawaii, California, Texas, and Mississippi. They made many friends over the years. Joan enjoyed reading, cooking, entertaining, and playing cards. She volunteered at Hospice and the old Georgetown Library.
Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Karyn; sister, Janice; and her beloved husband, Walter. She is survived by her son, David (Sandy); her granddaughter, Dana (Jose); her grandson, Daniel; her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alaina, Chloe and Collin; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 1, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
