Christopher W. Hyser Jr., proud veteran
Christopher W. Hyser Jr., 83, formerly of Louisville, Ohio, passed away Oct. 23, 2024, peacefully at his Lewes home with his wife by his side. He was born in McDonald, Pa., to Christopher W. Hyser Sr. and Nan (Steffen) Hyser.
Chris graduated from McDonald High School, where he was a gifted athlete in track, basketball and football. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for four years. After his service, Chris went to work at NCR, Diebold & Omron in banking sales, and sold some of the first ATMs used in the United States.
Chris loved taking his family on vacations while seeing historic and scenic sites like the Painted Desert, White Sands and Mesa Verde. He was also interested in the Civil War because his great-grandfather served in the Union Army and fought at Gettysburg. Chris loved watching old westerns and playing golf, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was also a member of American Legion Post 28 in Delaware.
Most of all, Chris adored being a grandpa to Ellie and Andrew. He loved talking to them about their successes in sports and the classroom.
Chris is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; son, Chris (Jessica); grandchildren, Ellie and Andrew; sister, Patricia Rosa (Robert); brother, Robert Hyser (Barbara); brothers-in-law, Anthony Bagliani (Marianne), Joseph Bagliani (June-deceased) and Robert Bagliani; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister, Lynda Jones.
Services will be held at a later date.
