Sussex conservation poster contest 2024 winners recognized

Sussex Conservation District recently recognized the winners of its annual conservation poster contest.

Posters were judged on the 2024 theme, May the Forest Be With You, Always.

SCD received 351 entries in seven grade categories. Digital posters were accepted in two grade categories.

First-place winners from Sussex County advanced to the state-level competition, with state winners moving on to nationals.

Grades K-1 winners are: first place, Annabelle Lehman, first grade, John M. Clayton Elementary; second place, Sasha Costello, kindergarten, Sussex Academy; and third place, Kennedy Savage, kindergarten, Sussex Academy.

Grades 2-3 winners are: first place, Angel Clifton, second grade, Legacy Academy; second place, Graycen Malchow, third grade, Epworth Christian; and Lauren Hastings, third grade, Epworth Christian.

Grades 4-6 winners are: Nohely Ramirez-Merida (state-level winner), fifth grade, Sussex Academy; second place, Camden Dukes, fourth grade, Epworth Christian; and third place, Lukas Whaley, fourth grade, Epworth Christian.

Grades 7-9 winners are: Rainna Adams (state-level winner), eighth grade, ST215 Academy Homeschool (state winner); second place, Anna Louden, seventh grade, Legacy Academy; and Paige Barbrow, eighth grade, Legacy Academy.

Grades 7-9 digital winners, all from Epworth Christian, are: first place,  Annabelle Hochstedler, eighth grade; Emily Morris, seventh grade; and Addison Light, eighth grade.

Grades 10-12 digital winners, both from Sussex Tech, are: first place, Alana Furst, 12th grade, and Asher Brittingham, 11th grade.
