Senate Republicans keep leadership team

November 25, 2024

The Senate Republican caucus re-elected its leadership team Nov. 21, keeping it the same as the previous year.

Heading into the 153rd General Assembly, Sen. Gerald Hocker, R-Ocean View, was elected again to head the caucus, his fourth term as minority leader.

“It is an incredible honor to represent the people of the 20th District and to continue leading our caucus into the 153rd General Assembly,” Hocker said in a press release. “Our priorities remain clear: improving Delaware’s education system, enhancing public safety and tackling the economic challenges that affect everyday Delawareans.”

Sen. Brian Pettyjohn, R-Georgetown, was re-elected as minority whip, his third consecutive term.

“I am deeply grateful for the trust my colleagues have placed in me to help lead our caucus,” he said. “We face serious challenges as a state, and it is critical that we deliver innovative, practical solutions that resonate with Delawareans. Together, we will work tirelessly to advance commonsense policies and strengthen our communities.”

The Senate is set to convene Monday, Dec. 16, to confirm gubernatorial nominations. Regular session will begin Tuesday, Jan. 14.
