January 14, 2025
Jason Daniel Walden died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, in Dover. He was born Oct. 29, 1971, in Los Angeles County, Calif. Jason graduated from Orange High School in 1989. He enjoyed and succeeded in a 24-year career in sales of golf equipment and apparel. His knowledge and work ethic advanced his career quickly to middle and upper management, and then to the ownership of his own business. When the internet competition emerged, he decided to relocate to Rehoboth Beach.
Jason remained in customer service and sales, working for Rehoboth Beach Marina and Parcel Plus.
Jason will always be remembered as a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. He had the grit to wear his team's apparel every game day during the season. He was a golf enthusiast and a scholar in golf history. Jason was an avid reader and loved to listen to the “Talking Heads" on TV, whether it be related to politics sports, or entertainment.
He was the Rehoboth foodie in training, knowing all of the offseason specials in Rehoboth and Lewes.
Football season, cherry blossoms, Thanksgiving, and Christmas seasons were his favorite times of the year. He loved the beach and wore flip-flops whenever he could year-round.
He is survived by his mother, Melody Sohl; sister, Sarah Sohl of Texas; his wife, Janice Winston of Texas; his brother, Joshua York; his nephew, Nathan York of Kentucky; his longtime best friends, Jerrell and Steve Kovacs, both of Florida; and Rodger and Sarah Anderson, Chris Rederfer, Paul, and Keith. He will also be missed by his “adopted Rehoboth Beach family," Marta Ortiz, Junior his fur buddy, Susan Goudy and family, Justina, John and Jeff Goudy, and Shirley Dalrymple.
A celebration of life will be held in early 2025.
Keep Jason in your prayers and thoughts. Rest in peace our friend, Jason. You have left us too soon.
