Rehoboth Art League Outdoor Show a perennial favorite
As summer starts to sizzle in August, anticipation rises for the two weekends of the Rehoboth Art League Outdoor Fine Art and Fine Craft Show to be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11-12 and 18-19. More than 100 talented artists and artisans will include familiar local faces and 19 exciting new artists who were juried into this year’s show. Featuring, painting, photography, jewelry, woodwork, ceramics, steel, glass works and more, the outdoor show is a great venue to find original art and crafts for the home and as gifts.
Each weekend also offers a full array of music and entertainment. Some highlights of this year’s entertainment include The Mike McShane Trio featuring vocalist Peggy Raley and Joe Holt on keyboard from 1 to 3 p.m., Aug. 12, and Marv Ashby and High Octane from 1 to 3 p.m., Aug. 19. Special children’s activities will be provided by Kids Cottage for the first weekend, and there will be face painting by artist Sherry Biele during the second weekend. Delicious food and beverages will be provided by Nage and The Point Coffee House and Bake Shoppe.
Since onsite parking is limited, the art league recommends patrons use the free parking and Jolly Trolley shuttle service available at Kmart on Route 1 and Rehoboth Elementary School at 500 Stockley St. Ext. The entry fee into the grounds of $5 per adult per weekend can be applied toward a one-year membership at the art league or toward art purchases exceeding $100 that day. There is no charge for children under 18.
The art league has chosen "Outdoor Show," a whimsical watercolor and acrylic painting of the 1990 event by artist Pamella Bounds-Seemans, to showcase the promotional materials. The work is part of the league’s permanent collection of art and will be on display during the show.
In addition, the 74th Members Fine Art Exhibit will be in the Corkran and Tubbs Galleries, and the RAL Members Showcase: Print Makers will be on view in the Homestead.
