GFWC Women's Club of Indian River starts new year with new members

October 17, 2012

The GFWC Women's Club of Indian River started its year by inviting local ladies to come see what the club is about. At the first meeting Sept. 10, GFWC inducted three new members; five additional women were inducted Oct. 8. GFWC Women's Club of Indian River meets at 10 a.m., the second Monday of each month September through May at the Indian River Yacht Club on River Road in Millsboro.

Members are active in the Millsboro community with mentoring at Long Neck Elementary School and volunteering for the Alzheimer's Association, the Boys & Girls Club and the Millsboro Chamber of Commerce. GFWC Women's Club of Indian River also donates books to the Millsboro Public Library, offers donations and help to People's Place for victims of domestic violence and supports many other projects. Meetings also feature educational programs with guest speakers.

The fundraiser for this year is selling deer whistles in the club's Save a Deer and Save Your Dear campaign. Whistles are priced at $10 each. For more information, call 302-947-2640.
