SEA TO SHINING SEA: Taking a weather day in Dillon

Out to the east of Dillon, where snow whitened the mountains, an interesting cloud formation caught my eye.  Never saw anything like this before. BY DENNIS FORNEY

We ate dinner in the Mexican Fiesta - a taco bus across the parking lot from the Sundowner with a great reputation.
The interior of the taco bus includes two thin benchers - every seat with a window view.
This 1880s building serves as courthouse for Beaverhead County in Dillon. As the storm passed, the humidity lifted and the light became surrealistically clear.

DAY 32 - Watching weather across America.  Three sentences tonight, starting now:

We watch weather closely, wondering how warmly to dress, wishing and praying for tailwinds, hoping that the good forecasts hold true.

Tomorrow, fingers crossed and knocking on wood, we'll be pedaling northward toward Virginia City with light winds predicted out of the southwest.

Today, we woke to heavy rain, saw a dusting of snow on the surrounding mountains, decided that another day in Dillon beat a day of riding in a cold 70 percent of precipitation.

Total holds at 1,214.  Will send another report tomorrow evening.
